The School House

The one-room schoolhouse, constructed in 1851 at a documented cost of $55.00, housed all eight grades under the instruction of a single teacher. A wood-burning stove was the source of essential warmth, with water drawn from an outdoor well. Visitors can spot initials and names etched into the original dado walls from past days. Sadly, in 1980, the schoolhouse was broken into, and the historic school bell was stolen, leaving a void in its historical legacy. Despite this setback, the schoolhouse remains resilient, serving as a poignant symbol of education and community for all who visit Old Falls Village Park.
